How much does SEO cost for an online store? Compare services and budgets
A monthly fee tells you little on its own. What should an SEO proposal include, and how can retailers assess the work, implementation and business value?
Quick answer
SEO costs depend on your starting point, competition, product range and agreed scope. Separate analysis, technical implementation, content and ongoing support. A low-cost proposal is of little value if the necessary changes are never implemented. At sjmedia, we therefore plan around the work your store needs, not its revenue alone.

Two retailers can generate the same revenue and face very different SEO tasks. One sells a manageable range with clear categories. The other works with several languages, many similar items and frequently changing supplier data. A flat percentage of revenue does not explain that difference.
Why do we not give a general monthly price here?
Without an assessment, a figure would mainly act as a price anchor. A meaningful price must state which tasks it includes. We therefore do not publish invented sjmedia packages here. When making your decision, it is more useful to establish whether a proposal delivers recommendations only, or also includes changes to the store, coordination and subsequent checks.
Before requesting a proposal, record three things: which parts of your range should grow, which problems you already know about, and what your own team can reliably handle. This defines the scope more effectively than asking for “SEO for the whole store”.
Which services belong in a comparable SEO proposal?
| Service area | Questions the proposal should answer |
|---|---|
| Analysis and priorities | Which pages and technical areas will be checked? Is there a justified order of priorities rather than just an error list? |
| Technical implementation | Who corrects templates, links or indexing settings? Is the work included or commissioned separately? |
| Content and product knowledge | Who provides specialist information, who writes, and who checks the facts? How many topics or page types are included? |
| Ongoing evaluation | Which results will be discussed, what tasks follow, and who checks implementation? |
Also ask which costs are one-off and which recur. Additional languages, new markets or a major rebuild can change the scope. A monthly report does not replace a technical correction or specialist work on a category.
What makes SEO more demanding for large product ranges?
Product count alone is not a useful price list. What matters is how many different problems and templates need attention. One incorrect shared setting can affect thousands of URLs. Conversely, ten product groups that require detailed buying advice may need more individual research than a large, well-maintained standard range.
With PrestaShop, we therefore also examine modules and the existing configuration. Not every task needs a new module. Buying a module does not decide which categories, filters and content make sense for your store. As an agency with a strong technical focus, we connect recommendations with work on the existing store.
How can you assess whether the budget makes business sense?
Define what should improve: more relevant visitors, qualified B2B enquiries or profitable product sales. More traffic alone is not a sufficient result if it leads to unavailable items or products with little commercial value.
Do not attribute all existing organic revenue to a new activity. Compare against a suitable baseline and account for seasonality, price changes and other marketing campaigns. For B2B, a qualified enquiry may be the first measurement point; any later order then needs to be attributed separately.
How long does SEO take to show results?
Google gives a typical guideline of four months to a year before the benefits of changes may become visible. This is not a promise for any particular store. Technical barriers, competition and the pace of implementation affect progress. Agree on verifiable work and intermediate goals rather than a guaranteed ranking. Google’s advice on choosing SEO support.
Can your own team take on some of the work?
Yes. Product knowledge, common customer questions and real use cases often come best from your own company. We can combine this information with search demand and technical requirements. A realistic division of tasks is essential: anyone expected to supply information needs a clear brief and an agreed deadline.
The same applies to a company website. Services and qualified enquiries take the place of product groups. Here too, the scope and starting point determine the work, not company size alone.
Does GEO need a completely separate budget?
Not necessarily. Well-supported answers, clear authorship and understandable examples can already be part of SEO work. Additional tasks, such as monitoring selected questions in AI tools, should be specified in the proposal. We would not justify a second charge simply for giving the same text a new label.
