SEO after a store relaunch: identify and investigate losses
Your new store is live. Distinguish tracking errors, technical issues and changes in search demand.
Quick answer
After a relaunch, check measurement and accessibility first, then redirects and affected page and query groups. Compare appropriate periods rather than totals alone. Fix demonstrated errors specifically; ranking changes alone do not justify reverting the entire project.

The new store works, but organic visits are falling. Neither blanket reassurance nor immediately reverting the platform is a useful first response. For SEO after a store relaunch, define what declined, when it started and which pages are affected.
This guide starts after cutover. Our relaunch SEO checklist covers preparation. Recorded URL mappings and baseline figures make subsequent investigation easier.
Is the decline real or is measurement different?
Search clicks and measured website visits are not identical metrics. If only Analytics has changed, check implementation, consent and the metric definition first. Orders continuing while measured purchases appear to be zero may indicate tracking trouble, but this is not a final diagnosis.
Consider periods, weekdays and promotions. A weekend following a strong campaign week is not a fair comparison. Prior-year patterns may help for seasonal products, while catalogue and campaign differences still need consideration.
Which checks come first?
We keep a short record of responsibilities and findings:
- Measurement: are relevant pages and purchases still recorded consistently?
- Accessibility: do important destinations load without server errors or unintended restrictions?
- Redirects: do former entry URLs reach suitable replacement content?
- Indexing signals: are intended pages indexable and their assignments consistent?
- Content and links: are important information or internal routes missing?
- Impact: which product groups, queries and orders are affected?
A widespread error takes priority over an isolated low-traffic page. Still record specific examples: “visibility has disappeared” does not explain whether the issue affects one successful product or a hundred categories.
How should old and new URLs be reviewed together?
Take important former landing pages from the documented mapping. Check not just whether a redirect exists, but whether the final destination is appropriate. A former spare-part page should not lead to a generic homepage without a relevant reason.
Then assess the destination’s content, availability and internal links. Several factors may have changed together. Match old and new URLs in reporting, or a replaced address will appear to lose everything even when its successor receives visits.
Which fluctuations can occur?
Google’s site-move documentation notes possible temporary ranking changes during reprocessing. It does not establish a fixed recovery deadline for your store. A demonstrated technical error should not remain unresolved merely because fluctuations can occur.
Separate repair from search impact. A redirect working correctly today is directly testable. The timing and outcome of search-system processing cannot be predicted precisely from that check.
How do we organise PrestaShop follow-up work?
Assign issues to specific areas: routing, theme, content, modules or imports. PrestaShop allows targeted work on an individual implementation, provided changes are not made indiscriminately in several places at once.
Maintain a change log and test corrections in a suitable environment first. Search, filtering or product mapping may be operationally important even when absent from the initial SEO report. Ask staff to add actual store workflows to the review.
When is follow-up complete?
Not on an arbitrary date. Technical acceptance requires agreed errors to be corrected and checked. Search performance is then monitored using documented comparison groups and clear ownership.
Our Search Console guide supports reporting. As a PrestaShop agency, we connect technical follow-up with products customers can buy. The outcome should be a traceable diagnosis and actions, not an unsupported promise to restore former rankings by a particular date.
